Board
of Directors
Semi-annual meetings are held in the fall and spring, where in members vote on such issues as the synagogue budget, committee structure, Board membership and all areas of importance to the community. Ohavi Zedek's Board of Directors is responsible, however, for ongoing management of the synagogue. The Board sets synagogue policies in all non-religious areas, hires clergy and other synagogue personnel, oversees maintenance of the physical plant, oversees finances and raises funds.
Board meetings usually take place at 5:30 PM on the third Thursday of each month and are open to the public. The Board's thirteen members serve two- or three-year terms. Elections are held each November.
Each Board member is assigned to at least one committee, but everyone's help is needed to ensure the ongoing management of Ohavi Zedek. A synagogue is actually a community of willing volunteers. The committee structure of Ohavi Zedek is the main way in which members of the congregation can get involved and participate in running the community. Please consider joining one of our committees and working to make this a vibrant, exciting and meaningful place to be.
